In 586, when Mano Kagoro was travelling by boat from Kyushu to Osaka City a large storm came about and the sailors prayed to Kannon Bosatsu for protection.
It is said that to show his gratitude, he constructed a temple here in one night.
The Main Hall was built in 1305 and is designated as a National Treasure.
